Climbing Silver (Bogin)

Climbing Silver is one of the first attacks every player learns: simple, direct, and usable against both Static Rook and Ranging Rook.

  • Climb the right silver 3h-2g-2f-1e behind the rook's pawn.
  • Break through with the pawn push to 2d.
  • Recapture on 2d with the silver so silver and rook hit 2c.

Climbing Silver sends the right silver straight up the rook's file, supported by the rook behind it. It is simple, direct, and one of the first attacks every player learns.

The silver's path: 3i, 3h, 2g, 2f, then 1e or 3e, aiming at 2d. The pawn on 2e goes in first to start the fight.

Practice 1 of 1

Begin the Climbing Silver.

Remember: Climbing Silver: silver 3h-2g-2f-1e, then pawn to 2d and recapture with the silver. Silver and rook together break through on the 2nd file.

I know forty moves of theory. Move forty-one? Let's not talk about it.
