What is tsume shogi?
Tsume shogi (詰将棋) are shogi checkmate puzzles. The attacker must give check on every move, and the defender always plays the reply that holds out longest. “Mate in 3” counts both sides: your move, the defender's reply, your mating move.
Solving a puzzle a day is the fastest way to get better at shogi — you learn mating patterns you'll spot in real games. A new puzzle appears here every day at 00:00 UTC. Every puzzle has been checked by the engine.
