The Yagura Castle

Yagura is the classic castle for games where both players keep their rooks home, and building it in the right order keeps your bishop safe.

  • Build the Gold Yagura: king 8h, golds 7h and 6g, silver 7g.
  • Follow a safe build order, moving the bishop aside before the king.
  • Keep the bishop's diagonal calm by pushing the pawn to 6f early.

Yagura is the classic Static Rook castle for games where both sides keep their rooks home. It is strong from the front, which is exactly where attacks come from in those games.

The finished Gold Yagura: king 8h, golds 7h and 6g, silver 7g, with pawns on 8g, 7f and 6f in front.

Remember: Yagura is the Static Rook castle for rook-versus-rook games. Build silver 7g, golds 7h and 6g, move the bishop aside, and bring the king to 8h.
